Even if times it is no taste of the upper mother

Sti&Pah Packet

Dipoula, it is the history of a small albino gabonais in whom all children can recognise themselves malg the particular situation.

Dispatch of the AFP, some days ago: Burundi: a six-year-old little girl, last victim of the hunt for the albinos. This sad news item is not an unique case. In Africa, the albinos are, even today, victims of exclusions, of persecutions and even of assassinations in magical purposes. This topic, greatly sweetened, serves as a basis for the new BOULEVARD of Sti, the daddy of Rabbit.
Fruit of a collaboration franco - gabonaise led under the aegis of a Swiss editor, Dipoula has something universal, even beyond its multicultural fatherhood. At the blacks, Dipoula is taken to be a white and, to whites, he is rejected because he is black. In the album, Sti and his accomplice, the designer gabonais Pah , stage a small 8-year-old boy who had misfortune to be born albino in the Gabon. And if they are far from sordid news item, the BOULEVARD has a message strong issued which, from here or from Africa, advocates tolerance. After a first page introducing the condition of the children albino in all its horror (abandonment and rejection), the album decides to play the card of humour. In the course of pages, Dipoula and his mates, Blaz Blaz and Cissoko, go for a walk in the native Gabon of Pah , trying to make black the small albino, to liberate the monkeys arrested and sold as meat in the market, to wrap the girls in short, to live!

To go farther:

Impregnated with gabonaise culture

United by means of Packet, their editor, Sti and Pah immediately stuck. They began discussing the net after the exit of the volume 1 of Rabbit, they tell Sti who did not hesitate to agree to write the scenario of Pah . His character of Dipoula has already existed; he was enough to stage stories. Problem, it is that I knew Africa in no way. Chapellois fastens its luggage therefore and flies off for the Gabon in March. In his suitcases, some already written pages, just to see if common master key always with Pah . I crossed a whole week there and Pah made everything me visit or almost. Once impregnated with gabonaise life, I had scenario in mind and all album was made thanks to Internet exchanges. Several topics were had in mind: integration, brotherhood, acceptance of others , tells Sti. The whole being to succeed in getting a message by humour. What allows to approach delicate topics as difference, rejection, integration in a group, while avoiding high-flown demonstrations thanks to a humour which can put on at the level of the children. And this works since Dipoula, before even the exit, has already enticed the jury of Gang of talents , governed this year by Luke Besson, which chose him among six better albums of the year.
The album goes out in France and in Switzerland tomorrow and the authors hope to unite the financing necessary for an exit in the Gabon. They would like to make a flexible album which could be free distributed in schools and orphanages of the Gabon , definite Sti. Because the message will serve there also.

In Africa, the albinos pay superstitions of their life

The albinos of Tanzania and of the Burundi are victims of murders linked to ancestral beliefs. Once killed, wizards cut their bodies up in pieces, then prepare a potion, sold to the payer, very often a notable of the Tanzanian society. They tell that to drink this brew would be productive rich and nice for eternity

In March, the Tanzanian president, Jakaya Kikwete, had ordered energetic measures against every person blended with these crimes. Since, 173 wizards were stopped. But situation does not calm down: at the end of October, while a protest march was organised in Dar-es-Salaam by the Association of the albinos of Tanzania, a 10-year-old little girl was even killed in the evening - in the other end of the country. His murderers took one of the arms. The reports of NGO operating on place mention assassination and mutilation, since March, at least twenty-five albinos.

Tanzania is however considered to be the most stable and the most democratic country of Eastern Africa. Officially, of more than 8 000 albinos in the country are listed. But the Association of the albinos of Tanzania thinks that they could be in fact 150 000, on a complete population of almost 40 million inhabitants. On September 3rd, the European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning "vigorously " the assassination of albino in this country and the trade of the parts of their bodies in a profitable purpose. At the same time, measures were taken by the Tanzanian government to institute an inventory of the albinos and to set up a police service of escort of the children attained by this anomaly when they go to the school. And, since April, 2007, a deputy albino, Al-Shymaa Kway-Geer, assembles in the Tanzanian Parliament.

The albinos of the Burundi live, too, in terror. Especially since perpetrated atrocities, in last August, in the east of the country. Six persons died. Their amputated members would have been routed to Tanzania for aims of sorcery. Victoria Gakobwa, 50-year-old, single Burundaise albino, expresses the distress of these persons: We were cursed. Besides the problems of physical elimination, we are traumatised for a long time. We are isolated, pushed back. Nobody dares to propose us. The UNO condemned at the end of November this hunt for the albinos in the Burundi, due to charlatans come from Tanzania .

GENETICS: The albinisme is a genetic anomaly characterised by an absence of pigmentation of the skin, hair, hair and of eyes. If in the United States or in Europe, one person of 20 000 is albino, this rate goes down to an individual on 4 000 in Africa, where they try to struggle against these crimes. In one pub, Vodacom, the first telephone operator of Tanzania, shows so two players of football, the one black and the other albino, squeezing up the one counters other one. A message of brotherhood.
